“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one”
Someone who is righteous means they are right all the time.   Another term for righteous is perfect.   This verse of the Bible says that no one is perfect.“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
No one is perfect because everyone has sinned (for example, everyone has told a lie, which is a sin) and everyone falls short of God’s glory.“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
When we sin we earn something, just like when we work we earn a wage.   The Bible is clear about what we earn for our sin – death.   This death is not speaking about a physical death, because we’re all going to die physically someday, but it’s talking about a spiritual death.“But the fearful, and unbelieving… and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
There are two deaths – physical and spiritual – but the good news is that you don’t need to experience the second spiritual death, by accepting God’s gift of salvation.  Read the verse in bold above again.  It says that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. A gift is something that you don’t pay for, but something that you accept.   Although the gift of eternal life is offered, the gift giver must still pay for the gift.  For God to give you the gift of eternal life, God must pay for it.“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
The verse above shows how God paid for the gift – by Jesus Christ dying for us.“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
You accept the gift of eternal life by believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and that He was buried and rose again. YOU must decide where you will spend eternity.  Jesus said:“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
There is no other way to go to Heaven except through the Lord Jesus Christ.  No amount of good works or deeds will earn you a place in Heaven, the Bible is very clear about this:“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
